Monte san Savino, probably of Roman origins, is the birthplace of a famous architect and sculptor, named Il Sansovino. To be seen the renaissance Palazzo Comunale, with a court with a three arch portico and a beautiful hanging garden, and the Palazzo Pretorio on whose facade You can admire the stems of the Florentine podestà.
Florence, with the highest concentration of artistic treasures, is the cradle of art par excellence.
The major Reinassance artists have left important examples of their art in this beautiful city.
Florence is itself the Reinassance, as the Cupola of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Duomo, built on the project of Brunelleschi, witnesses. In piazza del Duomo it is possible to visit the Campanile of Giotto and the Battistero, adorned with unique mosaics.
But the Florentine art is not just Reinassance; even when Florence was a free "Comune" and then a Republic, art was very important for the Florentines, and this is evident if we consider the great number of romanic-gothic buildings: palazzo Vecchio, Orsanmichele, and the marvellous San Miniato al Monte, which towers above Firenze.
Florence has a great number of art collections: Uffizi, Bargello, Pitti Gallery and the Museum of the Opera del Duomo. In the surroundings to be seen Fiesole, of ancient Etruscan origins, from whose terrace it is possible to have a spectacular view on Florence.
